Feature Request – Customer Link to Save Credit Card on File
under consideration

First, I want to say that we are really liking the new feature that allows us to send customers a payment link via SMS or email to pay an invoice. It has been very helpful for collecting payments.
We would like to suggest a related feature that would help improve our workflow even further.
Currently, the payment link can only be sent after an invoice has been generated. However, our company policy requires that we have a credit card on file before dispatching a technician to a job. Because of this, we often need customers to securely enter their card information before any work order or invoice is created.
It would be extremely helpful if there were a way to send customers a secure link (via SMS or email) that allows them to save a credit card directly to their customer profile, without needing an invoice to exist first.
This feature would allow us to:
Securely collect a card on file prior to dispatch
Reduce manual entry of card details by staff
Improve PCI compliance and security
Streamline scheduling and dispatch workflows
Thank you for considering this request. Please let us know if something like this already exists or if it might be added in the future.

Hi Andrew! This is a great request and we understand the value that this would bring to your business operations. I have a couple of questions. 1. Would being able to request a card on file happen at the time that the customer contacts you? Example: They request service or a quote and then you could text them a link to enter a "deposit" or authorization and save the card, as you mentioned, on their customer record. 2. If you were using a ServiceBridge Customer Portal, do you think giving them a link to the portal to store that info there and be able to update it at any time add value? Looking forward to your feedback and thoughts. Also, if you'd like to meet to discuss, I can definitely arrange that as well!

Hello Yvonne!
- Ideally, requesting a card on file would happen as soon as the work order is generated. A large portion of our work orders come in via email, so right now our team has to manually call customers to collect card details. Being able to simply send a secure link for them to enter their information themselves would save us a significant amount of time and really streamline our process.
2.Yes, having that functionality within the ServiceBridge Customer Portal would absolutely add value. We already have multiple customers who submit requests and track job status through the portal, so giving them the ability to manage their payment method there would be a natural extension.
A big factor for our customers is security—many prefer entering their card details themselves rather than providing them over the phone. Knowing the information is encrypted and securely stored gives them added peace of mind, which ultimately helps build trust and improves the overall customer experience.
Appreciate you looking into this!
