Booking' Time off' for Tech just like booking a job or estimate

We currently book time off for the techs as jobs, this generally generates work orders that are not work orders and gives us some misleading figures as to number of jobs per week etc.
We use the work order function so that both the tech and office can see the time booked off. Would it be possible to create something very similar to a work order which would include recurring 'time off' etc.
In my mind this would be the same as a work order or estimate but would be classed as 'appointment' would appear on tech and office schedule but would not create a work order that appears in work order lists etc.

I agree; the availability feature is a great start, but it can't be made recurring, it doesn't show on the Ipad, and you have to choose to see it on the calendar.
We also use work orders that are not really jobs and it gives us misleading information abut the # of jobs scheduled, hours scheduled, and the average $ amount of WO's. They also fill our reports with useless information we have to sift through.
An "appointment" or "meeting" option would be wonderful.

Recurring appts. for availability is much needed.

So just to share how we currently do this as I am open to suggestions if we can improve with the current set up.
We have a customer called Task, Task has lots of locations which include buying materials, holiday, appointment, doctors, early finish.
On the custom reports we try to exclude these jobs with ' does not include customers with 'task' in the name which does help eliminate these stats but it still doesnt give us true figures and creates endless fake work order emails but is a relatively small price to pay for a working, transparent system.

We do the same. Our customer is called Scheduled Absence Request. We have another for the company meeting. Having a way to book time off would be a huge help. I echo the reasons stated here, skewed reporting etc.

Excellent suggestion. Some of our offices use "Office" to block time for meetings, appointments, etc.

Good Idea. It creates too many bogus WO's now.
